Alhassan Doguwa, an All Progessives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives, has been sacked by a Court of Appeal which sat in Kaduna.

The election in two local governments the lawmaker represents was nullified by the appellate court which ordered a fresh election in the constituency.

Daily Nigerian reported that Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie who presided on the case filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Yusha’u Salisu, wondered why the national assembly election tribunal dismissed the petition against Mr Doguwa on grounds of failure to prove allegations of irregularities and over-voting in the election.

The court nullified the entire election in the two local government areas Mr Doguwa represents, saying the whole process was marred by irregularities. The Independent and National Electoral Commission who were ordered to conduct a fresh election within 90 days in the entire constituency, was also accused of committing a ‘substantial breach’ by writing the results of only two of the 53 parties that participated in the election in Form EC 8 (II) E.
