In disregard of the restriction of public gathering due to the Coronavirus pandemic, some members of Umuomaku Community in Anambra State on Saturday embarked on a political rally in support of Young Peoples Party( YPP)

The rally was led by the immediate past PG Robert Obi, Zion Nwadike and some members of Umuomaku Caretaker Committee, Hon Tony Ibekwe and Daniel Amazu, among others.

This development came few days after the same group of people told the Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor on Town Union Matters, Hon Vera Okonkwo, that some major APGA stakeholders in the town were card carrying members of the PDP.

While the dust of the false claim was yet to settle down in the Community, the town union leaders mobilised supporters across the community to hold a rally drumming support for YPP in the area.

A native of the Committee told newsmen that APGA won election for the first time in Umuomaku in 2014, the election that ushered in HE Willy Obiano (Akpokue Dike Global) through the efforts of people who were labelled PDP members by the embattled town union leaders and the caretaker committee members.

Recall that Umuomaku held it’s PG election on the 29th of February 2020 and because of the irregularities and manipulations from the former PG of the town (Robert Obi) and some of his executives to the extent that the constitution of the town was reviewed without due process and consultation within few months to the towns general election to favor their preferred candidate.

Some stakeholders in the town frowned at the development and complained to Hon Vera Okonkwo the SA to the Governor on Town Union Matters about the high-handedness of the PG and some of his executives.

The PG with some of his supporters went to the Government house and branded the stakeholders in the town as PDP members causing problem in the town and every evidence to make her (the SA) believe that those people are the major APGA stakeholders in the town fell on deaf ears.

She then appointed a caretaker committee believing that they are APGA members truly, those APGA members are the people seen in the video and pictures above as YPP stake holders today piloting the affairs of our great town as APGA members.

In the composition of the CTC we have two serving Directors in different Ministries as members of the CTC and she made their preferred candidate Mr Eric Udoye a business man that resides in Lagos with SSEC certificate and a contestant in the failed election the chairman of CTC.

The good people of Umuomaku wants the government to come to their aid if the community will move forward.

The town has been enmeshed with a lot of corruption cases by the immediate past executive of the town to the extent that the first and second 20 million Naira given to towns by his excellency the executive governor of the state for choose your project initiative went into the construction of open shops not worth 1/4 of the money collected from the government and nobody is talking because they know their way to the government house.

It has become very important at this stage for the Towns Choose your Project Initiative Office to come and evaluate the project done in comparison with the money released to the town Union and see if the money was judiciously used.

This rally like you can see was organized without strictly observing social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols. Aside ignoring the health safety of those that participated in this political rally, the group and their sponsors acted in defiance of the directive by the Anambra State Government banning all public gathering exceeding 20 people.

Nigeria where are we heading to and who did this to us?
