A FORMER lawmaker representing Edo South, Senator Daisy Danjuma, has said Governor Godwin Obaseki should be re-elected, to continue his sterling governance and achievements.
She urged residents, especially women, to support Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to be re-elected on Saturday.
Daisy, the wife of Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.), speaking in Benin at a reception organised in her honour by Edo PDP women, said there was no need to change a performing team.
She added that Obaseki deserves a second term.
Mrs. Danjuma, a PDP chieftain, claimed that Edo governor’s sterling performance in all sectors of the economy compelled her to endorse his candidacy for a second term.
She said: “Obaseki was in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and I saw all what he was doing in Edo State. I then said this was not about party, but about the individual.
“He (Obaseki) has done well, but as a member of the Board of Trustees of PDP, I support him for continuity, even before his defection to the PDP.
“Since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, former governor Lucky Igbinedion ruled Edo State for eight years; Comrade Adams Oshiomhole also governed for eight years. Why is it that a performing governor (Obaseki) will not do eight years?
“There is no reason a performing governor will not have a second term. I know Obaseki will do something great. This is why I said despite my party, I must support him for a second term, so that he can finish the good programmes he has started.”
