Nigerian senate gets new minority leader following Abaribe’s resignation

Lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Philip Aduda has been appointed as the new Minority Leader of the Senate to replace Senator Eyinaya Abaribe who resigned, after defecting from Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

Senator Chukwuka Utazi was also named as the Senate Minority Whip to take over Aduda’s former position.

This was conveyed in two separate letters signed by the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party Samuel Anyanwu, and read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday June 21.
