The New Nigeria Peoples Party today warned the Independent National Electoral Commission against inviting anyone (as senator-elect for Bauchi North Senatorial District) or political party to the ceremony slated for tomorrow 13th March 2019 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja during which certificates of return are to be presented to newly elected National Assembly members.

Speaking earlier this morning while receiving party members who came to show solidarity at the Abuja National Secretariat, the National Secretary of the party, Agbo Major warned INEC against inviting the APC candidate or even the party to the event as senator elect for Bauchi North insisting that the NNPP candidate, Hon Farouk Mustapha won the election by landslide. We have protested to INEC through the very corrupt REC in Bauchi state and directly to the INEC Chairman here in Abuja in writing and expect that they will be neutral in this whole episode. “the era of impunity is gone and must not be allowed to return especially under a regime that came to power with the mantra of change and a promise to fight corruption.

What happened in Bauchi North has no semblance of election, it was a shock to us to see that a seating governor would lead an operation to kidnap electoral officers from Gamawa and Zaki LGs after noticing that the APC had lost the other five LGs under the senatorial district. The act is against all known democratic principles or procedures or better still rules of engagement and our party completely reject this unholy connivance between INEC operatives on the field and the APC led state government. The will of the people can never be subverted as it were. This mandate was freely given to our candidate and the good people of Bauchi North are solidly behind NNPP and it’s candidate. We know our candidate won this election and urge INEC not to be part of this illegality if its integrity and impartiality must be maintained” he said.

Further details soon.
